The Invitation

Take a deep breath. For a moment, let go of your “slot” on the schedule. Let go of the “Dream Team” lanyard, the rehearsal tracks, and the pressure to perform. You are not a resource to be managed; you are a soul to be loved.

The Scripture: The Unforced Rhythms

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” — Matthew 11:28-29 (The Message)

The Reflection: The Vine vs. The Machine

A machine requires a “spark” and “maintenance” to produce. If a gear stops turning, the machine breaks. But a garden is different. A branch doesn’t “work” to produce fruit; it simply abides in the vine. The fruit is a natural overflow of the connection, not a frantic effort to meet a KPI.

If you feel burned out, it’s likely because you’ve been treated like a gear. You’ve been told that your value is in your output—how many songs you sang, how many kids you checked in, how many visitors you “assimilated.”

But Jesus doesn’t need your “output.” He doesn’t even need your attendance. He wants your presence.
