The Friday Greenhouse
The Red Letter Reset
Welcome to the lab. On Tuesday, we talked about how deeply triggering it can be to open a Bible when your nervous system associates the text with weaponized proof-texts and religious checklists. We realized that we were pushed into intellectual assent—forced to agree with a corporate system of ideas—instead of being allowed to look at the character of a person who lived in the dirt.
This Friday Lab is designed to give you a completely non-triggering, safe, and protective way to re-approach the Gospels.
We are trading doctrinal extraction for simple character observation. This isn’t a traditional bible study. You do not need a theology degree, a commentary, or a pastor’s permission slip. You are just a quiet observer looking at a historical biography.
Grab your journal, pour a fresh cup of coffee, and let’s practice The Red Letter Reset.
Part 1: Choose Your Story
Pick one short, narrative story from the Gospels where Jesus is interacting with people. Do not pick a long theological sermon (like the Olivet Discourse). Pick a scene where things are happening.
Here are three highly recommended, low-trigger options to use today:
Mark 1:40–45: Jesus and the man with leprosy.
John 4:4–26: Jesus at the well with the Samaritan woman.
Mark 10:46–52: Jesus and blind Bartimaeus on the side of the road.
