Quick recap: On Tuesday we followed Joseph, betrayed by his own brothers, who met them again years later. He didn’t pretend, didn’t rush to trust, and wept in private, and when he finally reconciled, it was built on truth and on his brothers’ real change. Through all of it, “the LORD was with Joseph.” Today, with the holidays coming, we get practical.
Thanksgiving is less than a month away. If the thought makes your shoulders climb toward your ears, you’re not alone. Nothing says gratitude like three hours of Uncle Dave explaining the rapture over pie.
Here are four things to hold this season. Take what helps and leave the rest.
1. You get to set the terms. Joseph decided when, where, and how he’d engage. You can too. Decide ahead of time: How long will you stay? Which topics are off the table? Will you drive yourself so you can leave? A few words you might borrow: “I’m not going to talk about my faith today, but I’d love to hear about your trip.” Or: “I love you. I’m going to head out now.”
