Unlocking the Throat
Quick recap: On Tuesday we heard the prophets — Isaiah and Amos — reveal a God who rejects a “peace” bought by the silence of the hurting, and whose chosen fast is to let the oppressed go free. Today we bring that into the body, especially the places that learned to stay quiet.
If you were trained to keep the peace, your body knows it better than your mind does. It lives in the throat that tightens before you speak. The breath you hold when there’s tension in the room. The freeze — or the fawn, the rush to smooth everything over — that comes on automatically when conflict appears. That’s not a character flaw. That’s a nervous system that learned, often very young, that safety meant silence. Today we very gently begin to teach it something new.
