The Friday Spoken Blessing: The Freedom of the Open Field
Introduction: A Note on the Word “Blessing”
In the Purity Club, a “blessing” was often conditional. It was something you earned by staying inside the lines, by believing the right things, and by playing the part of the “good girl.”
But as I’ve handed in my membership and stepped out into the wilderness, I’ve discovered a different kind of blessing. It’s not a reward for passing an exam; it’s a companion for the journey. It’s the voice of a Divine Parent who loves listening to the stutter, the doubt, and the difficult question just as much as the old hymn.
I’ve written this blessing for those of us who are currently standing at the exit, wondering if we’ll be okay on the outside. If you’ve been told that leaving the “Right Theology” means leaving God, I want to offer you a different truth.
Close your eyes, take a breath, and let this be your permission slip.
