The Saturday Blessing
A blessing for the wild edges
This week, we’ve been looking for the “escaped mint”—the grace of God that refuses to stay behind the fences of the tidy and the “proper.” Today, we stop trying to weed the garden and simply bless the ground we are standing on.
The Blessing
May you stop trying to be “garden-ready” and learn to embrace your own wild edges.
May you find the God of the Wild Places standing with you in the mud and the noise.
May you trust that when you are feeling crushed by life, you aren’t being destroyed; you are releasing a fragrance of hope this world desperately needs.
And when the church tells you to stay inside the borders, may you have the courage of the goats and the mint— to wiggle a board loose and grow exactly where they said you couldn’t.
Go find the grace in the weeds.Amen.
