Blessed are you who are laying down the map of us and them — the one you were handed so young you thought it was just how the world was made.
Blessed are you who have been the one in the ditch, rescued by someone you’d been taught to reject: grace came to you wearing an unexpected face, and you are wiser now for having been saved that way.
Blessed are you who have passed by — you are not a monster, only human, and there is mercy enough to cover the times you crossed the road.
Blessed are you who are learning the double sight: to see the overlooked as neighbors, and to see yourself without shame.
May the reflex that sorts the world soften in you this week. May you find yourself, gently, in every character of the story. May your eyes keep opening.
There is no them, beloved. There are only neighbors you haven’t met. And you are one of them, and you are loved, exactly as you are.
Rest now. The work will keep till Monday.Blessings are meant to be passed on. If these words brought you a bit of peace, would you consider forwarding this email to one person in your life who is currently sorting through their own 'religious clutter'?
